There is still a massive “healthcare gap” in the U.S., and this gap can affect the medical care that some black and brown American’s receive. The treatment of patients with sickle cell disease perhaps provides one of the best illustrations of this gap. While sharing Cynthia’s story, Dr. J and Dr. I take a closer look at the care given to many sickle cell patients. Cynthia, a single Mother to three children in central New York has battled the disease her entire life, and her insights are eye opening.
